Mar 15, 2012
Asteros will continue maintaining the data center of the largest Russian retailer, X5 Retail Group. Asteros will support engineering systems of retailer's corporate data center ensuring uninterrupted operation of the core of its IT infrastructure.
X5 Retail Group is the largest retail chain in Russia operating more than 3000 shops in several retail formats with total annual revenues in excess of 11 billion USD.
X5 Retail Group started working with Asteros in late 2010 when Asteros submitted the winning bid for outsourced corporate data center maintenance project. For a full year, Asteros provided high-quality technical support for X5 Retail Group's data center engineering infrastructure to agreed SLA.
In 2012, Asteros will continue supporting business-critical data center engineering infrastructure including fire suppression, power supply and air conditioning systems, diesel generators and uninterruptible power supplies. This project also includes scheduled replacement of wear parts and system tune-ups, as well as disaster recovery services in case of any emergencies.
"All company’s business-critical applications depend on uninterrupted performance of the data center, so we set high qualifying requirements to an outsourcer. During last summer heat wave Asteros engineers did their best to make the data center bear the heavy load and we managed to avoid downtime. After considering the results of our teamwork, we made a decision to extend our maintenance contract with Asteros," explains Vitaly Skovorodka, Head of Infrastructure Department, X5 Retail Group.
"Outsourcing of data center maintenance is not something uncommon any longer, but often rather a necessity. Growing number of companies choose to outsource these services to professionals and focus on their core business operations. Together with highly skilled IT professionals of X5 Retail Group, we were able to quickly address all challenges with data center engineering infrastructure maintenance, and we built a really trusting relationship," says Dmitry Shilov, Head of IT Outsourcing Division, a.i., Asteros.
