IDC: Asteros increases market share in system integration

For the second year in a row, Asteros Group maintains its rank as the second largest vendor in the system integration sector of the Russian IT market according to IDC. Significant growth of business in 2010 helped Asteros become a Top 10 IT service provider in Russia.

According to 2011 Competitive Profiles and Analysis of Leading IT Services Players in Russia research by IDC, Russian IT services market grew by 47% to $4.8 billion in 2010.

Asteros Group reinforced its position in the Russian IT market and became a Top 10 IT service provider (exclusive of revenue from offshore software development services).

Systems integration remains the largest sector of Russian IT market. Asteros is the 2nd largest company in this sector. Asteros managed not only to keep its ranking for the second year in a row, but even to improve it by increasing its market share from 9.1% in 2009 to 9.4% in 2010. Asteros delivered some of its largest projects in this area for VTB Group, Sochi Airport, TVEL Fuel Cycle Company and other businesses.

In user support and network infrastructure outsourcing segment, Asteros also moved up one spot from 6th in 2009 to 5th in 2010. Asteros has a 4.2% market share in this segment.

"Share of IT services in our revenue grows every year. In 2010, Asteros reported a record 48% share of IT services in its revenue. Strategic focus on integrated projects with a strong services component gives us an opportunity to demonstrate strong business growth exceeding Russian IT market growth rates every year," Mikhail Erenburg, President, Asteros Group.

In 2010, Asteros reported combined revenue in excess of $311 million representing 43% growth. Asteros Group currently has approximately 1450 employees.

According to IDC analysts, Asteros strengths include fast-paced brand development, strong competence in system integration and diversified clientele. All this factors should help the company keep the high pace of business development in future. IDC analysts suggest that the future prospects of Asteros belong to IT outsourcing and opportunities for IT security business development.
